Once in awhile, I like to treat myself to a good brunch with good company. Tableau Bar & Bistro has always been on my food list so I decided to go with a friend on a sunny day in Vancouver. The place wasn’t extremely busy when we got there but it was half full. With black and white tiled floors, the restaurant looked vintage with subtle hints of modernism. There was a bar inside and with their classy and comfortable setting, I could imagine myself sipping on a martini after work on a weekday. Priding themselves on using fresh West Coast ingredients, their French-inspired menu contains a taste of home.
Smoked Salmon and Pickled Red Onion Benedict
I’ve always found salmon benedict a little too bland after a few bites so I was very happy to taste the pickled red onions. Just a small handful of pickled red onions already helped excite the dish with it’s slightly sweet and piquant flavours. I don’t think many restaurants would add pickled red onions to enhance their bennies!
Their potatoes were slightly dry but the seasoning was just right.
