Strip House by Harlan Goldstein

Lunch at one Michelin starred restaurant Strip House by Harlan Goldstein was definitely a weekend treat that I needed. The restaurant has a very 1940s New York design with vintage photos of women hanging on their walls, and tones of red and black everywhere from furniture to tableware. The lunch is at HKD188 per person with all you can eat salad, soup, main course and dessert. I forgot to take a picture of their salad but I couldn’t stop myself from their roasted vegetables with zucchini (my favourite!) and parma ham.

Carrot Soup in which all of us thought was lobster bisque or pumpkin soup judging by the colour. It was a good way to shift from the salad but it got me semi full after I was done. The texture was definitely thick with a very strong carrot taste.

I could not find this on the set lunch menu on their website but this is Melted Egg With Mashed Potato, Black Chorizo Sausage with Black Truffle Sauce drizzled on top. The sauce gave the bland mash potatoes a strong truffle aroma for some excitement. Also, don’t pop the egg till last minute!

So I had a choice between their surprise dessert or their ice cream, #thestruggleisreal. Their ice cream flavours include Hong Kong milk tea, Nutella, peanut butter and jelly, blackberry and the usual flavours. I mean, it is Nutella ice cream…so I went for the ice cream obviously – Nutella and Peanut Butter and Jelly. As you can see that the Nutella ice cream was a bit runny and it actually didn’t taste significantly different than our average chocolate. On the other side, the peanut butter and jelly was very unique and it felt like a cold PBJ sandwich in my mouth.
