Expensive burgers for about HKD80 to HKD100 but so worth it. Shake em Buns is a punny burger spot in Hong Kong located on the Pottinger steps in Central. The restaurant is small and not clean but it gives the whole burger eating an experience. I mean, who eats burgers in a classy way right? Time to get rowdy and messy.
When I was interning in Central I would always see a line up at Shake em Buns. One day I decided that I couldn’t help myself and went to try it. The seats were crammed and everything was in front of you – the kitchen, the eaters, cash register, juice blenders and basically everything you expect to see at a restaurant crammed into a small area. The servers aren’t nice and the burgers take a good 10 – 15 minutes to make but at least we know that it is fresh! By the time I bit into my burger I didn’t care about how disrespectful the servers were.
Their menu is incredibly punny with selections such as “Doggie Style hotdog”, “Gang Bang burger”, “Strip Tease mozzarella strips” and much more. Might as well get a good laugh while reading the menu and away from the horrible service.
For lunch I had the “Debbie Does Dallas (HKD72)” burger with French fries and a soft drink. The burger had your hot and juicy patty, tomatoes, crunchy lettuce, smothered onions, cheddar cheese, bacon and BBQ sauce poured on. I added my own ketchup and mustard and this burger was Texan food porn in my mouth.
