Another summer time treat is large amounts of ice cream. I honestly trashed the whole “Diet for a Summer Body” idea and went for the “The More Calories, The Better” idea. Glenny and I drove to Burnaby to try out the legendary Glenburn Soda Fountain and Confectionery. The interior of the old ice cream parlour enhances the whole ice cream experience. When we walked in, there was already a huge line up and all seats were taken. Given their space, they could add more seats instead of leaving the space for a line up. Luckily, there was an empty table at the end of the parlour so I quickly grabbed a seat for Glenny and I.
Glenny had the The Blackout (CAD7.50) and yes, you can blackout after this mountain of ice cream and chocolate cream. Layered with scoops of hot fudge and chocolate ice cream, topped with with chocolate cream, sprinkles and a chocolate wafer cookie, this is the extreme chocolate indulgence. I’m assuming that we were supposed to share this, but Glenny finished this to the last drop of fudge.
I had the Peanut Butter and Jam Supreme (CAD8) with a scoop of vanilla and chocolate floating on a top of hot fudge and melted peanut butter and finished with swirls of whipped cream and sprinkled with chocolate sprinkle and crushed peanuts. I was almost drinking peanut butter and hot fudge which wasn’t a bad thing for me. I like the different tastes in my order instead of all chocolate like The Blackout. Other than just melted cream and whipped cream, I enjoyed the occasional bites of the crushed peanuts.
