Cactus Club Cafe

I’m proud to say that even after living in Vancouver for three years, I recently just tried Cactus Club Cafe in April 2015. Jacky and I have never been chain restaurant keeners so since we were planning to go to Cactus, we wanted the best view of the water at the Cactus Club Cafe at Coal Harbour. Given the location, bookings for a good view were not easy to come by but we finally went after work. Even when the food was good, there was no wow-factor that persuaded me to go back in the future.

Butternut Squash Ravioli with Prawns

I don’t have high expectations when it comes to ravioli because most places overcook them and the stuffing is usually bland and plain dull. When I had my first bite, I was surprised to find that their butternut squash ravioli was pretty decent with a creamy and moist butternut squash filling. The corners of the ravioli were slightly overcooked and hard to chew on, but the dish was still acceptable and it made me feel healthy.

The only thing I found lacking in this dish was the flavour boost. The sauce was there but it just wasn’t tasty enough.

Roasted Lamb Pops

On the other hand, the roasted lamb pops were a taste explosion of all flavours. Everything to the meat to the vegetables complimented each other and it went very well with the curry. I’m not sure what those little mochi balls are but it gave the dish a chewy and fun texture.

The lambs were roasted nicely with a light pink centre and a very juicy, tender and spiced exterior.
