On my to-do list in New York City, I had to have brunch at least once during my visit. I’m pretty sure by now, I’ve done most of the things couples would do in NYC with Tiffany. Anyway, brunch is a huge thing in NYC and apparently we had to line up if we were to go anywhere nice. We decided to go to The Butcher’s Daughter for a healthier brunch option and when we got there, I saw a group of people standing right outside the restaurant. We were lucky to get a seat because no one else wanted a bar spot. From where I was sitting, I could see how everything at The Butcher’s Daughter was cooked and presented just by two chefs and a bartender.
I was in love with the decor at The Butcher’s Daughter. Plants and baskets were hung from the ceiling and everything was vintage and homey like.
Smashed Avocado Toast Benedict
What’s in it: Poached egg curried hollandaise, smashed avocado with curry, mustard seed and lime. with roasted potato hash.
I’m not an avocado fan but I couldn’t really resist smashed avocado toast benedict. It’s interesting to try eggs benedict with a twist in the hollandaise sauce.
At first, I was a bit edgy on the curry because to me, the taste of curry seems a bit overwhelming for a brunch. Turns out, the curry wasn’t too strong nor was it too bland, it blended in so well with the hollandaise and the avocado. I love their innovative take on the usual hollandaise, definitely quite a change.
The roasted hashed potatoes were not too filling and they were definitely not bland. I’m not sure what spice they added into the potatoes, but it was very flavourful.
What’s in it: Pineapple, jicama, and lemon.
I mainly bought the drink to replace a mimosa and for the mason jar.
I’m not sure if the juice was freshly squeezed but the lemon and pineapple was very fresh and definitely not too sour or too sweet.
Overall, this is a lovely and refreshing drink for a brunch. I would highly recommend it.
