After my last visit to Acme Cafe, I really wanted to return for more and to hopefully try their pies or cakes. This time, Jacky and I went for dinner to see if it was going to be any different. After this experience, I would prefer lunch at Acme instead of dinner. On the good side, I got to try more dinner selections instead of sandwiches and subs. By the end of dinner, we couldn’t order cake or pie because we were way too full.

At the time I went, the Jambalaya Chicken and Rice with Broccoli Slaw was the dinner special. I ordered it mainly because it had protein, carbs and vegetables all in one dinner. The chicken was grilled with spicy herbs and the meat inside was sealed with juice. The chicken juice gave the rice a sweeter and moist taste with a hint of spiciness and tomato flavours. To cleanse my palette once in a while, the slaw was cold and refreshing from the spices in the chicken and rice.
Jacky had the Wild Boar Sausage and Turkey Cassoule (CAD13) braised in a tomato-demi glace sauce with white navy beans and a salad on the side. Jacky found the sauce more like a thick soup with chunks of ingredients thrown in. This wasn’t his type of dinner especially with how thick and heavy it was. On the other hand, he did say that the sauce was extremely vibrant with flavours and a tad spicy.
