17°C Dessert Café

Summer time in Vancouver can definitely be hot when it reaches to 25°C and above. While we have ramen during our wet and cold winters, summer time calls for plenty of cold treats. I was invited to another one of ChineseBite’s tastings and this time, I had dessert at 17°C Dessert Café for lunch. On the day we went, the sun was blazing and I was a sweaty mess by the time I got there. Luckily, the place was chill and the desserts were perfect for the day.

Watermelon Icy

The watermelon icy is a great dessert to share amongst your friends on a summer night. The price is definitely expensive for fruit but I think it’s a fun experience and you’re paying for the labour from scooping out all the melon balls.

The watermelon icy has shaved vanilla ice inside the watermelon bowl with balls of watermelon on top. Finishing with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a container of condensed milk to pour on top. Better eat it fast and strategically before the ice cream melts or the balls tumble.

Honeydew Melon Icy

Similar to the watermelon icy, the honeydew melon icy has the same concept but I found it to be less sweeter than the watermelon icy. Still a good dessert for a summer night though.

Oreo Icy

Their Oreo Icy was probably my favourite one since I wasn’t a huge fan of the fruit and shaved ice combo. I don’t usually go for the conventional options but their oreo icy was quite creamy and it was more normal than the fruit bowls.

Strawberry Yogurt Parfait

This was actually a pretty sweet yogurt parfait. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t Greek yogurt but it was still very thick and creamy. Overall, it’s a pretty simple dessert that you can make at home instead of ordering it here. I would suggest trying the melon icy bowls.

Mango Tapioca

Mango Tapioca has got to be one of my favourite Chinese desserts but I would rarely purchase it at a dessert place since my family would make it at home. Their Mango Tapioca was not cold nor hot or too sweet, not too much of a wow-factor.

Lightbulb Drinks

The kiwi lightbulb drink was a bit too carbonated and sweet for me. I did enjoy the additional kiwi bits in the drink though.

Red Pomegranate

I’m not sure what other bloggers thought of the lightbulb drinks but my favourite one would be the red pomegranate. It was just the right amount of sweetness and not too carbonated like the kiwi drink.

The lemon lightbulb was not as carbonated with the club soda than the kiwi one but definitely more sour. I’m more sensitive to sour so I wasn’t a huge fan.
